Attempted car break in - Dimensions

Hi,

Just so you know to be vigilant. At tea time yesterday (Monday) I took my toddler for a swim at Dimensions, upon my return I noticed somebody had attempted to break into my car. The method was a screw driver down the back door / window. They didn’t get in, they were probably disturbed as it pretty busy where I parked on the end by the main exit route. I had nothing of value on display in my car, just child seat and peppa pig umbrella. The car was alarmed and there is an interior red L.E.D flashing to indicate this.
You have to wonder what they were trying to gain, probably just hoping to bag a few CD’s from the glove box…

I’ve reported it to the Police so they can see if there’s a trend.

M.

Hiya Mark

I've noticed on a number of times on a Sunday morning that the coach bay by the Gym side of the building normally has squares of glass.

Last Sunday I saw two lads in the mid 20's, super strength in hand, loitering at the corner of dimensions (next to the extended parking/coach bay) underneath the cctv camera.

When they clocked me watching and trying in vain to remember the police non emergency number, they quickly wandered off.

Just imagine then, how bad the problem will then get when people start parking in the side streets to avoid the ridiculous parking fines charges for using the pool

Ah - my back up plan was to park on the coach bay under the CCTV, but it sounds like its just as bad there!

I'm having second thoughts about taking my little'un swimming again, if my car is going to be a target same time same place next week. Looking at the damage, they didnt try for very long. I reckon I got off lightly this time...

In a situation like this

In a situation like this please call 999 - it's classed as a crime in progress or suspicious incident and we would alert nearby patrols. With around 200 uniformed officers on patrol throughout every day in the city one of our patrols may have been nearby.

It's vital that every time you leave your car you remove anything with could be of value - in the eyes of an opportunist criminal - a jacket or coat on a back seat could contain a wallet or phone.

On Average we only expect 2 or 3 crimes of this type for day across the whole city - so please give us a call if you see anything suspicious.
