Join in a Guinness World Record Attempt

On 1 March, children at the Toddler Tuesday session at The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery will take part in I Can’s Guinness World Record attempt for the largest game of Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. To break the record, they need 1,462 people to take part in multiple venues across the country. The latest edition of the What's On from Stoke-on-Trent Museums is now available. It covers exhibitions, displays, events and activities at all four of the city’s museums and can be downloaded from the website at stoke.gov.uk/museum. Date set for eighteenth Canals Festival

Thousands of people will once again be able to enjoy a weekend on the water as Stoke-on-Trent’s Canals Festival returns for its eighteenth year. The festival, held at the Etruria Industrial Museum, will take place on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5, June 2011 and will include a host of attractions to entertain all ages, as well as live music, stalls and a selection of traditional boats. The festival, which has run since 1993, is one of the biggest free community events held in the city. Stoke Your Fires - Festival of the Moving Image

The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery

Stoke Your Fires has been animating Stoke-on-Trent for three years now, but it's changing. There's still lots of great animation, but not just animation, there's also film and other digital media as well, like gaming and art. The festival is growing, and for 2011 it includes a four-day convention with top international speakers, three major exhibitions, film premieres and animation screenings, community animation workshops, an international open competition and even a 48-hour film challenge.  Please see www.stokeyourfires.co.uk for further programme details.
