Increase in Bogus Officials - Neighbourghood Watch alert

We (Staffordshire Police) believe that at present there is a heightened risk of activity by bogus officials in the city over the next weeks. In the past the late afternoon/evening of Monday and Friday evenings have been particularly a time when offenders have practised their deception.

The most common ruse is the claim that they are from the water board. This gives an opportunity to distract victims - e.g. by having them turn on taps or flush cisterns: by visiting different rooms, kitchen, toilet, bathroom.

If anybody sees anything suspicious, call the police immediately. There will be no criticism of a call made in good faith. These offenders use high-powered vehicles such as BMW's. Make a note of any registered number.
