Appeal to find stolen tablets

Police in Tunstall are appealing to shoppers to hand in any medication should they find it discarded in the town.

Approximately 20 boxes of Dihydrocodiene prescription painkillers, each box containing 30 tablets, were stolen from Boots the Chemists, on High Street, just after 5am this morning, Tuesday 22 March.

If taken in large amounts the tablets are potentially lethal.

There is also a high risk to health if they are taken with any other medication.

The offender smashed a window to gain entry to the shop, and grabbed a number of items, including toiletries and cosmetics.

Some of these items have already been recovered from a nearby car park.

Officers are now investigating the incident, and are taking statements and studying (CCTV) closed circuit television footage from the locality.

The male offender was wearing a white hooded top.

Anyone who finds discarded tablets, or knows about the theft, is urged to contact police at Tunstall on 0300 123 4455 quoting incident number 65 of March 22.
