The Hollywall Lane Tip
The rolling lush green farming hills of Stoke North offer amazing views, pleasant country lanes... oh no, I was thinking of somewhere else.
I took a little trip down Hollywall lane on wednesday thinking I'd be taking the scenic route home. I was amazed at the shear amount of litter that covered both sides of the lane.
This went beyond the normal fly tipping that goes on down the lane, with people tipping down into the marl hole, this litter was everywhere.
One local resident said "they fine you up hanley if you drop a cigarette butt. But up in goldenhill, at the furthest reaches of the city no one from the council cares if the place is a mess."
WIthout constant surveillance and on the spot fines the problem is not going to stop anytime soon.
So what's the solution?
Make it easier for workmen to offload their rubbish at local tips?
Shut the road completely?
Increase Police and Stoke on Trent City Council environmental crime patrols?
