Stoke on Trent City council cuts the price of producing a planning notice to put on a Royal Wedding street party

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is making it easier for people to hold street parties for the Royal Wedding on 29 April 2011 – by reducing the cost of public notices.
The city council is hoping to encourage people across the city to hold a party to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton later this year, and has released a special application pack so people can cover all their obligations in one go.
Normally a street party would mean a road closure, at a cost to the applicant of £500 for advertising a public notice, plus other health and safety checks to be done. The city council is giving people a deadline of 1 April 2011 for people to apply for a road closure. At which point all the applications will be put on one public notice, the cost of which will be covered by the city council.
The application pack will also include advice on licensing rules and regulations, and highways and health and safety rules about putting up bunting and decorations.
Councillor Brian Ward, cabinet member for housing, planning and transportation, said: “The Royal Wedding will be one of the most important dates of the year and we’re keen that people get the chance to celebrate it.
“We realise that the cost of advertising the road closure might be a factor in putting people off, so we thought the best thing to do would be to gather all the applications together and save on the cost that needs to be passed on to the public.
“We want to do all we can to help people hold a street party if they want to, so we’ll be including advice on the laws and requirements people need to be aware of too.”

So cut off for the free
So cut off for the free street party application is 3 weeks away (1st April) else the charge is £200.
As an alternative venue, I've hired out Packmore community Hall at Rainford Close for 1st birthday party.
They have kitchen (and bar) facilities, loads of room and toys for kids to play with from their playgroup, also they can provide a bouncy castle outside, grass outside for sports/games, loads of room inside to arrange team games, team apple bobbing etc.
Do we need to establish if there is enough interest from folks?
Even closer to home, we've
Even closer to home, we've got Father John's Community building down at Christ Church, Goldenhill Community Centre, if it's a nice day, we've got the paddock, who needs a street when you've got a field, we'e got a field.
