Anti Social Behaviour
Dear All.
Thanks to all those who attended the last meeting at the Community Centre, and for supporting the ongoing efforts of all concerned. I was asked about a few things at the meeting, but anti-social behavior was one of the main topics.
There were two main areas for concern, but as I said at the meeting, I cannot go into specifics. (however, I'm sure you are all aware of the locations)
I've had a couple of emails recently about problems in the park, with glass, vandalism and even a fire. We have increased our patrols, I visit at least once a day, and have asked the Anti Social Behaviour patrol to visit at key times. During the holiday, everytime I visited the park, it was free from older youths, and was being used by children. It is nearly always the case that acts of anti social behaviour and crime are reported by members of the public, and not witnessed directly by Police. Progressing enquiries would not be possible without your help. A number of you have reported matters of concern to S.A.G.E. committee members, who have in turn contacted myself. I would ask that you try and contact myself or Michael in the first instance, as sometimes vital information can be lost if there is any delay. If you wish to remain anonymous, then call CrimeStoppers, or just leave us an anonymous voicemail message. You could even email us as well, as the information you provide will be kept in the strictest confidence.
Someone asked about putting a gate on the enry between Summerbank and the park, to help prevent easy access to undesirables. Unfortunately, this kind of measure is not that simple. It requires a lot of agencies being involved, and in my experience, very few are successful. I'll ask, but I'm not hopefull....

Hiya Glyn
Appreciate the swift action of extra patrols and alerting the asbo car. If Saturday is anything to go by 20:30 - 23:30 seem like ideal times to drop in.

Hi Glen,
Good to know that the police have their priorities right. As long as the Royal wedding has a bazillion police corporate officers in place on the big day, then a piddling little community like Tunstall doesn't matter, right?
This is not a critisism of you or the local police force, it's just an observation. Are the Anti social behaviour patrol real police men or police women, or are they PCSOs. I suspect they're probably the latter.
Love and peace.

We had a Motorbike doing a tour of the park tonight and a few anti-social people hitting objects from the top footpath into the play area with golf clubs. We all need to telephone the 0300 123 4455 number whenever we witness any type antisocial behaviour.
The police are doing their bit to try and crack down on this but they need all of us to work with them. If you ask the police not to call around at your house then they won't, never feel that you should keep quite about this sort of behaviour. We have a great community, let's keep it like that, these people are in the minority and should not be allowed to spoil it for the rest of us....

There have been reports of motorbikes on the openspace this afternoon. The resident made a report of the anti social behaviour to 0300 123 4455 the police's Non Emergency.
Over the past few years Tunstall Police have cracked down on motor bikes being ridden illegally in parks and greenways, and appreciate your support.
The motorbiker was accompanied by a gang of 10 youths, and is part of an ongoing and increasing worryingly violent antisocial gang that are based the immediate area.
There are two problems here. A lack of work and things to do, but also the social one in which these kids are bringing the area down. If they are really that bored surely the whole neighbourhood can find them volunteer work to do, instead of laying about all of the time.
Residents of the Bankeyfields your presence is really needed at the next RA meeting over at Sandyford Fire Station on the 17th May, 7pm. Our area is being blighted by ABS and also apathy from local residents.
