What makes modern elections different from the past is the internet.
In the past a very few would get a knock on the door or a leaflet through the post they have some sort of heads up on who they dealing with.
So if you see a candidate, if it's in the street, door knocking (and running), at a organised meeting, please share your thoughts.
Popeye, it's not looking very
Popeye, it's not looking very hopeful is it?
I think I might put the house up for sale now!
Popeye, you've got it spot
Popeye, you've got it spot on,
surely they have something
surely they have something written down stating their views for the election ?
Why don't they just put their policies on a website for all to see.
maybe one of the questions
maybe one of the questions should have been
Q How long on average does it take your to reply to a question?
I work have family and hectic 2yr old and still managed same day, my answer might not solve cities problems but people just want an over view of candidates don't they?

Dear Ian Norris,
You will get your answers in due course, we have a lot of history between us as you know and I will not be rushed into answers about some leading questions you have put.
David Sutton
Dave, one candidate as
Dave, one candidate as already been in the firing line after answering all of the questions asked of him.
It does not take a geniuos to answer questions, unlessthey have something to hide.
Just take a look at previous posts.
People are getting fed up waiting for you and the others.
I am really struggling here
I am really struggling here to see why it takes so long to answer some questions about what is in reality something that you are allready doing, or at least hope to do.....
If someone asked me about my job i could tell them there and then what i do, what i want to acheive and how i will hope to get there.
Having to be reminded with phone calls and emails beggars belief it really does, THEY want our votes and if it takes this long to answer some pretty basic questions then i have to worry about how long it would take for them to actually sort something out if they were voted in..........................
We seem to have had more politics on here than on the TV if they were all this good at local issues instead of slating each other we would all be fine....
Stop moaning about everyone else and answer the questions set.
Craig you are exempt as at least you answered, thanks
Popeye
Popeye,
Popeye,
welcome to the third rate politics of Stoke-on-Trent!
This lack of drive, this unwillingness to provide the voters with the answers they deserve, highlights beautifully why this city is going down the pan.
They will wait for as long as possible before answering, the closer to the election the better, at least in their eyes, everything is a political game or tactic.
What happened to answering the question and telling the truth?
right Martin Megan Matthew &
right Martin Megan Matthew & David, if you can't be arsed with the electorate's questions, what are you bothering to stand for? Whots it going to be like if i had a problem, will i get a response and some inteligent suport before the polar ice caps melt? this is not a good start. you have a active group of the community from all sorts of political walks of life and you start by not even giving us the time of day. no wonder less than half of the population vote. it's not from want of voting, it's because they dont feel represented enough to vote. the internet is a perfect medium. right now who would you say is the most known name standing for election in sandyford?
right or wrong he is smart enough to engage. its not a naughty word, it's used to communicate your ideas to other people and to take on board and listen to there ideas.
if this carries on ill have no choice but to vote for pond!
Dear Jon Morgan, (1) the city
Dear Jon Morgan,
(1) the city should be run by councillors but in fact the officers have to much power through delegated powers it has been a long hard struggle to reduce their powers but all councillors have to make it happen some do not want it to happen, I for one have always wanted to get rid of delegated powers.
(2) I have last year worked on the petition to keep tunstall pool open it should have never closed, but only 13 of us voted against the budget the rest were party whipped to vote for the budget.
I will work hard to get the pool re-instated by what means I can muster with the help of other councillors.
(3) I have in the past worked hard with local police to try to get ride of anti-social behaviour and in some cases it worked and in other cases it did not, I will work hard with the Tunstall police to get rid of anti-social behaviour in the Goldenhill and Sandyford Ward as you would expect me to.
(4) I have in the past supported Dransfield Developments and still support them to this present day in carrying on their developments to the north of our city which has always been neglected by public money and it was great that Dransfield decided to put in private money.
(5)I have always asked for years for public money to be spent in Tunstall and the surounding areas but it fell on deaf ears with renew and the rest of the council.
I hope that my answers pass muster with you.

Dave Sutton's community Q/A session
I'm popping over to the fire station tonight so hopefully I should be able to brief the others why this is important.
Although I do belive that
Although I do belive that the council should be run by the councillors and not the officers/officials Its a good job that this city is run by the officers as judging by the efforts of the prospectve councillors on this site nothing would get done.
I am a firm believer that if you do not vote you do not have the right to complain about the performance of any elected person. But at present I can not see any one worth voting for.
Is there anybody out there
Is there anybody out there that will not say they have been fighting to save Tunstall pool last year?
God with all these people (Ryan, Whalley, and now Sutton) you have to wonder why it closed?
None of which were outside Tunstall Pool when the protests were going on.
Reminds me of the ending of
Reminds me of the ending of one of favourite films, when asked which one of you is "sparticus"?
I'm Sparticus, no I'm Sparticus, I'M SPARTICUS
re: tunstall pool I can
re: tunstall pool
I can safely say that if our (prospective) councillors had worked half as hard as the group who are trying to re-open the pool, it would not have been closed in the first place!!!!!!!!!
Jon, lmao! lol. I
Jon,
lmao! lol.
I bet that's the fastest that Dave Sutton has replied to anything in years!
Another one that has been trying to save Tunstall pool for months, but I thought that the pool was being closed as part of the cuts frrom the coalition?
As to your conclusion, you could do a lot worse, believe me, I know.
Lovely, I hope Rich
