On Saturday hyperlocal site owners like MyTunstall's all met up in Cardiff for the annual Talk about local conference where ideas are thrown around, people discuss what works and what doesn't and is always attended by a really fab bunch of people wanting to learn or share.

Sadly I couldn't make the event this time around, but I got a lovely message and piccy sent to me on Saturday night saying that MyTunstall (basically that's you the readers and to posters of the site) have won an award in recognition of every ones hard work campaigning to save Tunstall Pool from closure, and also the site's constant covering of the campaign, and working to save the pools in other means.

The people behind the campaign are what matters here, but in this case I'm really glad to say that the website was able to play a pivotal role in terms publicising the campaign, the events, the updates, the demos.

When the pool opens the "broke mini aquarium" will be taking pride of place in the pool as a reminder to everyone what they did, and how they come together. Watch this clip as the TAL team consisting of William Perrin, Mike Rawlins, Clare White, Nicky Getgood and the Guardian's Sarah Hartly present the award.

Thanks also to Mike and Clare for pushing it and raising awareness of how Hyperlocal sites can help organise and bring people together, this site ain't perfick, but it does get some fantastic support.
