Good to see a Labour council again lets hope they don't mess up! Better news was to see the BNP removed and with some very low poling. I'm right on the southern edge of the G&S ward and I cannot understand how the Tunstall ward elected such a poor councillor as Lee Wanger and by such a large majority, I feel pleased now the boundaries were so badly redrawn! Still hopefully he will just be sidelined as the other so called independents will.
Ah well all that is over for a while and all we now need do is moan about the council.

Tim, it's only just begun

Tim, it's only just begun mate. We now have to see what we've got in Martin Garner, who due to illness still remains a pretty much unknown to most people. Saying that he seems decent enough via email, and when he was up and on his feet he did get in touch, so that's positive.

Too late for that Tim,

Too late for that Tim, they've been messing it up for years!
It's amazing, the continual state of decline the city has been in for decades under Labour, and yet people keep voting them in. Bizarre! I expect The Daily Mirror must have record sales in the city.

It feels like voting in SoT is futile. No surprise there's a low turn out...

Its just come to light the

Its just come to light the millions wasted on regeneration by this council.
Just after the election ?
No surprise that though given the local papers leaning.
No admittance that the moneys invested in London, or the extra hidden away found by Ian Norris?
Still as long as the senior officers of the council can spend £700,000 on free parking while the required £646,000 to save the two pools, care homes, Farm, and library are refused that's OK then?
The three fraud investigations going on in the Civic, and still they vote these clowns in.
What was going on in the Library in Tunstall on polling day?

One way of course to not

One way of course to not 'vote the clowns in' is to stand for the council, put policies forward and be elected on them. We have few councillors who are capable of dealing with the strategic issues for the city, however having a party with the backing of a national political party is a great improvement on the rag bag we have at time had in the recent past. I live right on the edge of the Sandyford & Goldenhill ward on the High Street which felt a stupid boundary change, however I now feel lucky because I do not have such an appalling councillor the rest of Tunstall have in Wanger.
Perhaps we need proper training before someone can even stand for councillor. How many understand the budgets or budgeting; the strategic planning required for not just the next 4 years but the next 10-20 years; Government funding; European funding; economic development and so on and so on. That is of course the work of the officers, and councillors are there to represent the views of the people, but it would be handy if they knew what they are dealing with.
