Smashed Conservatory Roof - Airgun
I live on Swallows Rise estate. Yesterday around 8pm I noticed one of the large glass roof panels (2mts x 1 mts) in my conservatory has been smashed on the outer of the double glazing. Looked around for bricks etc but couldn't see any type of debris that may have fallen from the roof. The Conservatory was built about 18 months ago.
This morning the Conservatory guy advises me that type of smash cannot be done by a brick or tile as the glass is so tough. He said it's highly likely to be a high speed projectile, such as air gun pallet, which he see's from time to time. Some Conservatories have plastic roof, which air gun pallets simply bounce off. But not glass ones.
Now I'm overlooked by about 7 houses on John Rhodes Way , due to the angle of the glass, possible 5 houses (No’s 9 – 17) have a clear shot at my Conservatory roof.
Is anybody aware of similar air rifle shenanigans, or know of somebody in this vicinity with one?
The upshot is ~£300 to replace, and a day off work (so far).
The Police have been informed.

I bet you were livid.

I've had a drive around JR Way, its not visible from the park.
Thing is, unlike a roof tile falling off, if it was malicious it could happen again at any time....

The police came over and had a good look. There's no evidence of bricks or air rifle pallets, so they don't have much to go on. They were going to knock on a few doors to ask if anybody hear or saw anything, but I don't hold out much hope.
On the plus side, they did comment they don't see much action on this estate, so lets hope it was a one off!
Hi ya Marks sorry to hear
Hi ya Marks sorry to hear about the conservatory roof panel as there is no evidence of a riffle pellet or bricks I would tend to shy away from thinking that this may have been an act of vandalism. This would seem plausible if you had upset some one and given them reason to hold a grudge, I do not think that someone using an air riffle would target just one conservatory or window, in a lot o f cases you find that someone doing this sort of thing would target a number of properties. Could there be a fault in that one panel, has the recent hot spell had an affect or as the conservatory is relatively new has there been some movement in the ground that has put added pressure on that one panel.
