Mark Ellam: Longton is going the same, but selling Pies and supporting illegal parking etc is more important than regeneration according to local traders.. no vision at all
Peter Williams: this council couldnt care less about any of the towns as long as hanley is doing well thats ok by them hanley gets everything all the others get nothing..

@samthestokie @MyTunstall Saddens me to see Burslem like a ghost town. Such fantastic architecture and heritage. In the 70's, it had everything!
It is the same story with
It is the same story with towns all across the country. It is the side effect of supermarkets. When when Ascosons want to open a new store they convince local councils that it will increase the number of people coming into the towns. They are right of course but what they do not say is that the people will only do a one stop shop in their store.
We are all guilty of killing the towns by using the big supermarkets because they are convienient. So its not just the council that are to blame we need to look at ourselves.
