All FYI

Staffordshire Police Authority will be meeting at the Civic Offices in Stoke-on-Trent next Tuesday (19 July 2011). The Authority, which usually meets at Police Headquarters in Stafford, has decided to hold one of its regular meetings in Stoke-on-Trent to emphasise the Authority's strong links with the City.

The meeting, which commences at 10.00am in the Windsor Room in the Civic Centre, will be preceded by a presentation at 9.00am from the Chief Constable, Mike Cunningham, and Chief Superintendent Bernie O'Reilly, who will talk about policing in the City. That meeting will also be updated by the Authority's Chief Executive on the current Police Reform & Social Responsibility Bill, including the proposal to replace police authorities with directly elected Police & Crime Commissioners.

As with all Police Authority meetings, members of the public can attend to observe the meeting's proceedings. Among items to be considered by the Authority are quarterly force performance, which is showing a 10% reduction in crime compared with the previous year; a report on the National Police Air Service; and an update on the national review of the counter terrorism ‘Prevent' strategy.

David Pearsall, Chair of the Authority said "Stoke-on-Trent is a key partner in policing in Staffordshire and I am therefore pleased that we have been able to meet in the city. I do hope that both the public and city councillors take the opportunity to come along and listen to the variety of important issues that the Police Authority has to consider"
