Lord Major Terry FollowsAfter several months of solid work the volunteers over at TECC have seen their official launch today, with Lord Mayor Terry Follows delivering a on the spot speech, wishing the new charitable business every success and cutting the red ribbon.

The Hose street location, which has been operating it's computer repair and sales shop for the past few months sees more facilities added to the expanding business.

With the help of The Coalfield Regeneration Trust to purchase the building in Hose/Foster Street along with donations of time, money and materials from other well wishers.

The new centre is here to help people to train people with new maintenance & IT skills for all, so there are no more excuses when wanting to do something on your computer and training with job creation aims. The new Community Learning Enterprise Online (CLEO) has been kitted out with 16 windows based PC's and 8 iMAcs, along with board room facilities and printing and projection availability,

As well as the computer sales, repairs and training facilities TECC also operate a recycling unit out of the Tunstall base. ---- Computers and peripherals such as printers, scanners, monitors, keyboards that have had there day or are still of use to someone if not to you can all be legally disposed of here, and either refurbished or stripped for part.

In doing so, you'll be helping the charity, reducing the needless waste if these computers would have been sent to the tip, reduce the need to landfill.

One interesting conversation I had at TECC was with one of the chaps who looks after the used Vegetable oil recycling plant. They are recycling over 400 litres of vegetable cooking oil, which is then processed and under license sell to people to run all sorts of vehicles from forklift trucks, vans, cars, generators you name it and at less than half the cost of diesel.

So to sum up, our town now sports a fully fledged recycle, computer repair, computer sales, computer e-learning and retraining business.
