Tunstall Park Refurbishments delay to have no effect on the 2011 Tunstall Carnival
Local residents Ian Norris was growing increasingly concerned at the speed of the refurbishment to the park was taking so started to asked various council officials for some information about any knock on effects this would have on carnival.
Mr Norris became concerned after very little work had been done in some of the areas of the site.
In feed back today however, a council spokes person said the recent delays faced by the builders down at Tunstall Park will not have any affect on Tunstall Carnival in two weeks time.
The contractors have experienced some difficulties in levelling the play area. This has resulted in a slight delay to the planned works for the play area, but equipment has arrived and is being installed as and when the site is ready and safe to do so.
With regards to the carnival, provision has been made for as much of the area the carnival organisers normally use, to be available. The Landscape Architect has informed me that the site will be fenced off and he understands additional security has been arranged by the carnival organisers.
Next week should see the tennis and ball courts resurfaced and installed by Friday this week.
So it's all systems go for this years Tunstall Carnival, and weather permitting will hopefully see a large turnout.
