Staffordshire residents are being urged to check their BEKO fridge freezers after a number of appliances caused fires.
The warning comes as the Service revealed that a fire just last week was caused by one of the affected models. Firefighters from Kidsgrove and Sandyford tackled the fire last Monday at the property on First Avenue, Kidsgrove.
The BEKO frost free fridge freezer models affected were manufactured between January 2000 and October 2006. A full list of the models can be found on the Trading Standards website: www.tradingstandards.gov.uk. People with one of the affected models should contact the manufacturer for further advice on their Customer Care Hotline 0800 009 4837 between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday.
Station Manager, Dave Steele said: “We’d urge people with a BEKO fridge freezer to check if they have one of the affected models. We will also be informing people of the issue during future Home Fire Risk Check visits.”
