Oatcake Day this Sunday 2011

DJ Superstar Terry Bossons (some of you might have heard him brighten our weekday afternoons up on 6Towns Radio) is hard at it again organising events this weekend for Oat Cake Day.

National Oatcake Day sprung to life last year from the deepest and darkest pits of Terry's mind, after becoming fed up with people confusing our beloved oatcake with the dried up biscuity thing from the highlands of Scotland.

The Great British Staffordshire Oatcake, first brought to our shores from soldiers returning from India trying to recreate naan bread, he decided needed to be given the honour it deserves and I'm not talking about wrapping it in around a runny fried egg, sausage and brown sauce, I'm talking giving it a day.

So, this coming Sunday, make sure you get some Oatcakes in and celebrate the second Oatcake day.

But not only that, Terry and friends from around the city are putting on a number of shows

Famous Quotes about the Oatcake:

‘I didn’t know the oatcake was from Stoke’ – Rhod Gilbert, welsh comedian.

‘I had my first one today to see what all the fuss was about and they are nice’ – Liam Lawrence – Stoke City football club.

‘I can’t eat them cos I’m wheat intolerant, but my mate loves them’ – Kate Nash, singer.

‘They are alright I suppose’ – Sean Lock, comedian.

‘To me, to you’ – The Chuckle Brothers.

Apologies to Terry, for not plugging the Oatcake day so far, I've been up to my neck with other stuff.
