Can you help Brindley Ford Residents Association win a £6,000 grant from NatWest Community Force.
Voting starts on Monday 26th September (4 Weeks)
In the late 1960's/ early 1970's parts of Brindley Ford were condemned by the council, houses and businesses to be demolished. The villagers campaigned to keep the village together and a new estate was built off Bull Lane. Since then more houses have been built, more families moved into the village.
Sadly the playground has been badly neglected through the years. (our present equipment is really old and consists of a couple of swings and a rusty climbing frame. The residents association has been campaigning for years for improvements, and last year we were promised a new playground through the governments PLAYBUILDER scheme. Our hopes were raised, work should have been completed by February 2011. Government cuts meant that our promised playground was cancelled.
We have recently secured funding for a smaller, but much needed playground. This is phase 1 of a much bigger project to bring 2.3 acres back into community use. Sited next to the Sustrans route 55 cycle track, and linking up with safer walks to school paths this play area would benefit villagers and visitors alike. We listened to the children, and with our present funds, we have chosen traditional play equipment to meet the needs of children from toddlers to teens. Also some of the equipment is suitable for use by children with special needs.
Funding did not stretch to providing much needed seating for parents and carers or picnic facilities. This is where we need your votes. We have applied to NatWest Community Force for a grant to provide seats and litter bins for our new playground. Voters can vote for up to 3 projects.
