First look inside Burslem's all new Fire Station
Burslem's 21st Century was open today to the press so I had the opportunity to show MyTunstall/MyBurslem readers what's inside.
Assistant Area Commander Ian Reed (you'll see Ian in the pictures outside the station) assistant area commander gave a guided tour of the new facility.
Ian pointed out that Burslem Fire Station will be open to the pubic on Wednesday of the community area. People using this community area will have use of kitchen area and air conditioned office type area
There are 16 retainer fire-fighter to Burslem all living/working with in 5mins from the station. When they hear their pager they make their way to the station.
Stats
- Its a 24hour operational station.
- Training night is Wednesday .
- 1 vehicle (water attendant)
- The doors open quicker and close shut behind when the vehicle has left
the building. - Cost £2.9 million awarded by PFI.
The station doesn't have a tower as they can use Sandyford's Community Fire Station. Burslem Station does have areas within the new station that they can practice without the tower ,
Outside the memorial garden which is just left of the station hasn't been touched while the new build had been built, however Assistant Area Commander Reed informed us that there are plans to do them up.
The firefighters are pleased with the new building and facilities they have - eg-dirty kit room, clean kit room and test kit room,
