Is somthing acctualy hapening with the parking situation around Tunstall roundabout as I have noticed several no parking cones placed in the area of the mini market.
I thought the council/highways were talking of putting new lines on the road to alleviate the problem, is this still on the cards or has it been shelved?
This afternoon someone had moved the cones onto the pavement so that they could park up by the shop and to night at 7.15 the Police were putting them back in place on the double yellow lines.
I wonder how long it will be befor they go missing altogether

Just weeks before she left
Just weeks before she left Megan Ryan let me know that she'd listen to mine and others complaints and had the barriers put into place. http://mytunstall.co.uk/11/02/tunstall-roundabout-get-new-safety-anti-pa...
But sadly the barriers have had no effect. What's needed is patrols and fines. The cars parked there are a danger to the cars on the roundabout, causing cars that should be in the inside lane to cut up cars in the outside.
I agree and have noticed that
I agree and have noticed that most of the ones parking don't put on their hazard lights, as they only seem to be popping into one of the shops.
There are plenty of places to park in and around Tunstall so don't see the need to illegally park especially on a roundabout.
There will be no enforcement
There will be no enforcement tsking place here, and it is obvious why, but no one is prepared to say it. Emperors clothes?
I don't know what emperors
I don't know what emperors clothes means.
Of course.
Of course.
Looks like someone has taken
Looks like someone has taken note as a row of police cones have been laid where people normally park.
I know it's a temporary measure, but it seemed to be working. Cars where parking higher up by the Indian.
I'm guessing the Police like the rest of Tunstall have also become fed up with this situation and taken the issue out of the councils hands who have except for putting the barriers up have done nothing to resolve this issue.
Emperors clothes, from the
Emperors clothes, from the chidrens fable roughly translated means we all know who is doing the illigal parking and why but no one DARES to confront them so it is basicaly ignored and we all go along with it untill someone has the nerve to confront the issue.
I did mention in my original comment that the cones were in place but in the afternoon someone moved 4 of them onto the pavemant and the police put them back again later on, to be honest that is just a waste of police time if this continues to happen. It needs a perminent enforcemant but as far as I can see this will not happen.
How often do we see traffic wardens in town?? Never, the acctual high street gets cloged up with cars parking in the bus lane and on the other side on double yellow lines cause they are to idle to walk to the bank or post office. I apprieciate some people with Blue Badges can not walk far but thats a system that is totaly abused.
You'd think the street cam
You'd think the street cam across the round-about would be able to see the cars parked there, what else would it be looking at.
You did mention the cones, it didn't sink in.
Thanks for the explanation about the emperors new clothes, I don't normally get what Dungwit is on about.
ah, but dare the police
ah, but dare the police confront those that are removing the cones and parking illegally? Is a blind eye being turned? If so, then I reserve my right to park wherever I like. I might just decide to park right outside the police station in Tunstall, after all, nothing will be done, will it?
Dungwit - if you mean it's
Dungwit - if you mean it's just Asian people parking there, everyone is at.
The best one was a lady who whilst I was waiting for the lights to change at the sheaf, jumpped into her car indicated and actually turned the car, back onto the roundabout and down towards ASDA. She was parked mostly on the roundabout, but it was the craziest thing I've ever seen.
Who said anything about it
Who said anything about it being just Asian people? Emperors clothes.
Do you say Emperors clothes
Do you say Emperors clothes to everything?
Does it cause you offence?
Does it cause you offence?
No, not at all, I thought you
No, not at all, I thought you were adding an interesting dynamic to your character by saying "emperors clothes" after every statement, that's all, unless it will cheer you up to let you think you've caused offence then yes, my very core was mortally offended.
Actually, Web monkey, I only
Actually, Web monkey, I only asked if you were offended to add an interesting dynamic to my character, but really, I couldn't care less if you were offended or not. Have you got an interesting dynamic to your character?
Nope, I'm purely 2
Nope, I'm purely 2 dimensional
this is pure nonsense with an
this is pure nonsense with an obvious and dangerous problem like this the police and the council should have taken it to hand a long time ago. i hope the cones stay in place now, its been great having the flow of traffic moving as it should
I have sat watching that so
I have sat watching that so called news agents shop from the pub across the road. Some very strange commings and goings happen there during the day and night.
It seems very busy for a place that has no parking but seems to attract more than its fair share of trade from people in vehicles?
Are they selling stuff so much cheaper than Asda, where there are 100's of parking bays?
Quite often you see some pretty smart cars parked there, BMW's, Audi's and such like.
What is the big attraction with this shop?
If I had not of known better I would say that there could be drug dealing going on in the area?
Whatever is happening in the
Whatever is happening in the shop downstairs or upstairs (there used to be a meeting room over the top of the shop) the parking situation has got out of hand. There is a perfectly good car park oposite why dont they use that??.
When I came home from work tonight 7oclock the cones had been moved again onto the pavement.
When I walked home yesterday
When I walked home yesterday from work I went that way for a change and even though there weren't any cars parked on the roundabout, there was one parked up a bit further and virtually on the pavement so these people aren't going to stop just because the cones are there. Proper policing with on the spot fines will do nicely, either that or have a tow truck readily available to take these cars away as soon as they illegally park - would soon get the message!!
The Police no parking cones
The Police no parking cones have totaly diapeared to day and we are wondering if they were just put there for a trial period to see if it worked or if someone got fed up and just removed them without consent, we could do with the local force giving us a clue as to what is happening, or perhaps they dont know themselves???.
Yes I noticed they were gone
Yes I noticed they were gone when I was walking to work just after 6am yesterday, though when walking back home after work was pleased to see that there were no cars parked along that strip and it was rush hour.
I hope something further can
I hope something further can be do now that the police trial is over as I've just driven past and three taxis (registered Stoke on Trent taxis), parked on the roundabout exit. I had to het into the other lane on the roundabout and that's how accidents happen.
Well it is happening again. I
Well it is happening again. I was driving round the roundabout in Tunstall and there were 3 cars illegally parked again on the pavement side of the roundabout and another car parked just above.
Obvious to me that the cones and the police presence has made diddly squat difference to these people that do not know the road rules.
I have suggested tow trucks taking these away before and think it is an even better idea now.
Seems to be just like
Seems to be just like Reginald Mitchell Way it is going to take a serious accident before something gets done.
Even they wont do anything!
Even they wont do anything!
This surely is an easy nick
This surely is an easy nick for the police. After all they are opposite this illegal parking. I actually did see a guy pull up, in a beat up Ford the other day, and just behind him was a police traffic car.He stopped at the side of the Ford, put his blue flashing lights on, wound his window down, which caused more problems of congestion, spoke to the guy, and then they both drove off!
OK it stopped that guy from parking there, but there were two other vehicles parked there at the time and they were committing an traffic offence!
So now it's OK to break the law! Obviously this police officer was an arm chair officer and get his arse out of the car and could not be bothered to pull up and issue a couple of parking tickets! Lazy bugger! Double standards I say. It is not what I would expect from the Police.
They just can not be bothered and it should be an embarrassment to the officers of Tunstall police station for allowing this to go on.
Call this a fair society, it's far from fair!
Got a good mind to park my
Got a good mind to park my car there and stick a big sign in the window saying " NOW NICK ME" and bugger off and do some shopping! shall also put a picture of me in the window, showing that I am a white male and working class, and will definitely get a ticket then. Nuf Sed!

Well I could hardly believe
Well I could hardly believe my eyes the other day when I was driving towards Burslem, a police car stopped on the roundabout at Tunstall with his notebook out walking around a car that was illegally parked. As I was driving I didn't hang round long enough to see if the person got a ticket. So does that mean that it is a lottery - first one booked in about 100 that haven't, who was the unlucky (or lucky for us)person?
Yesterday I was driving home
Yesterday I was driving home from a shopping trip to Matalan, when I came upon the roundabout and there were 6 cars illegally parked, 2 of them were taxis just sitting there and 2 were just up from the pedestrian lights.
This was around 2:30pm, there was quite a bit of traffic on the road to at that time, something has got to be done about this, just getting ridiculous.
