I haven't seen the plans yet
I haven't seen the plans yet for this, but injecting more cash into the area seems like a good thing to me.
But seeing as I don't live in this street so it's not really for me to agree or disagree with any plans as it won't directly effect me.
I have been in London for the
I have been in London for the last 5 days and came back to find the email with regards to the posibility of this care home in the street, I had no idea about this, was it mentioned at the Tunstall North Meeting that I couldnt attend (work commitments).
Does any one know if this has anything to do with the other home proposed for Summerbank Rd or is this a new application.
I would think the main arguments would be the access and car parking situation, we always have problems regarding parking in Parsonage St and you only have to drive down St Aidens St to see how bad that is, it depends on the plans and if they include both the streets. We have twice the ammount of cars using our street now since Bank St was closed by the new houses.
Untill I see the plans I will reserve jugment but I am thinking that a care home will be a better idea than the block of Flats that were originaly mentioned, that would have been a car parking nightmare.
I havnt seen anyone else in the St yet to ask so I dont know if it is common knowledge, but it will be by tomorrow.
Hi Sue Did you have a good
Hi Sue
Did you have a good time in ol' landan town?
I checked with Dot Matthews Chair of Tunstall North Residents Association, and she'd not heard of this.
I think this is a separate development.
I'll try and pop in and put the plans onto the site.
I think that any new
I think that any new development that actually does eventually go ahead on that site is only a good thing for the area instead of that ugly mess that lies between the streets. When I came back to the UK and saw that the building had been demolished and nothing to replace it - well what can I say. Think the building should have been left up until the fate of the site was decided.
As far as the parking is concerned will reserve judgement until the plans have been viewed.
Old peoples home eh!! Won't have to move far then will I lol.
Had a great 5 days loads of
Had a great 5 days loads of eating, walking and retail therapy, not a lot of sleeping, I am suffering now I am not used to late nights!!!
I will be able to go and look at the plans on Friday morning but as Gaz has said anything would be better than the mess it is now. I think a Care Home sounds OK. depending on the entrance and parking situation.
My main concern appart from the above is the mess and trouble with the builders doing the job, if it is any thing like half of the trouble we had when the new houses were built at the bottom of the street I may just go away down to the step sons for the duration. We cant go through that again Eh Gaz??.
A work colleague who lives in
A work colleague who lives in St Aidans Street said today (when I mentioned this proposal) that she had received on Monday a newsletter outlining the proposal with a plan of the site. From what she has told me that the entrance will be from St Aidans Street and planted out with trees and shrubs, therefore the back facade of the building will be on Parsonage Street.
I am hoping she will bring it to work tomorrow for me to have a look (if she remembers).
Yeah Sue 3 years of noise, traffic and dust everywhere and what did we get for our troubles - nothing - however Nash Peake Street got a park paid for - gee thanks SCC.
I spent almost an hour
I spent almost an hour yesterday at the Library with Mr Neil Barker the representitive from Mackellar Architecture going through the questions I as a resident of Parsonage St wanted answered.
On paper this looks to be a good idea for the area, it will get rid of the ugly plot of land that in recent years has become a dumping ground for all sorts of rubish. The buildings do not look out of place and I feel they have tried to make them easy on the eye.
My main concern is not for Parsonage St but I feel that areas of St Aidens St will take a little getting used to ie the Entrance and front of compound will have to be kept clear at all times so they will lose a certain ammount of car parking space. And more traffic up and down the bottom end.
I went to the Library at 11.30ish and was the only one to have attended all morning. I told Mr Barker that it was due to the fact that no one probably knew about the 9.30 to 4.30 consultation. He informed me that they had told the local press and radio as well as sending out letters but this had not worked to plan.
I looked at the mailing list and found they only sent out letters for the bottom half of both streets, so I made my feelings known to him that I felt as though all of the street should have been informed and told him I had read it on the "My Tunstall Site".
I was told that the majority of the Jobs will be sourced localy, and he quoted Seddons as the builders, he gave the start time as April 2012 and approx 10/13 months to build and fitt out if the planinng goes ahead without a hitch.
