Get your woollies out - we're in for an icy blast: Cold winds, frost and snow to hit Britain this week
Prepare to wrap up warm, the glorious October heatwave that brought us such unseasonably sunny weather is sadly over. In its place, chilly winds, plummeting temperatures, frost and even snow will set Britain shivering this week.
Although the south of the country will enjoy highs of up to 17C (62.6F) today and tomorrow, it will feel much cooler across the UK on Tuesday, with highs of 14C (57.2C) in the south and 10C (50F) in Scotland. 'There will be heavy showers, mainly across northern and western areas, with the chance of the odd rumble of thunder. On Wednesday night, temperatures will plunge to around 1C (33.8F), and could be as low as -1C (30.2F) in northern parts of the country with widespread ground frost expected in the whole of the UK.
As winter is fast approaching and weather forecasters predict freezing temperatures I hope that common sense will prevail when using grit from the grit bins when they have been filled by the council. In the past people have gritted their driveways before gritting the roads lets clear the roads first. I have noticed that Asda have got snow shovels and other winter aids on sale already.

on the subject of winter
on the subject of winter weather have noticed Select House (next to Homebase and Matalan in Wolstanton) have sledges in numerous colours £7.99 for anyone that couldn't get any last year. Didn't notice snow shovels in there though just the sledges.
