Appeal for witnesses to an attack on 27-year-old man assaulted in the Sagger Makers Bottom Knocker pub in Burslem

Officers are appealing for witnesses following an assault which took place in the Sagger Makers Bottom Knocker pub in the Market Place in Burslem.

At approximately 12.55am on Sunday 27 November a 27-year-old man was assaulted by two men.

The victim, a local man, received serious, but not life threatening, facial injuries. He was taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire where he remains receiving treatment.

Two men, one aged 41 from Newcastle and the other aged 21 from Stoke-on-Trent, were arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail pending further enquiries.

The investigating officer, DC 4453 Mick Smith, said: "It is believed there were several customers in the pub at the time and other people passing by that may have witnessed this incident and we urge them to contact us."
