Buses parking across from Woodland Street retail park causing access problems for shoppers
On a trip to Argos, Next and Matalan yesterday we had a bit of difficulty getting onto the retail park from Woodland Street.
Due to a D&G bus parked directly opposite the junction, cars found it extremely difficult to get past the bus and pull on and off of the Argos, Matalan and Next retail park.
The stranded D&G bus was making matters worse because it was parked behind two parked buses in the designated bus bays making the distance to travel further than a single bus.
It took a couple of minutes as traffic backed up to get onto retail park.
A Wardle Travel spokesperson said
Due to the number of buses having to wait time at this stop, it is quite difficult to park within the marked bay although I do not believe that too much difficulty would have been caused to passing traffic as other operators often park buses there for meal break reliefs.
Our Vehicles bring in much needed trade into the Town and we appreciate any comments and views to make things better for everyone in the Tunstall Neighbourhood
On a further visit to ASDA today I noticed again two Wardle Buses, one parked in the bus bay another directly across from the junction for over 15 minutes.

they are a nuisance parked up like that,
if you have parked on Asdas carpark and want to walk across this road -it also makes pedestrians step onto the road to see around them.

Well, if the Wardle Transport Spokesman says there's no problem, then there's no problem. I'm sure he would have thought long and hard about the issue before coming up with his invaluable response, because they care about the people who pay into their coffers, don't they?
PS. I am being facetious.

I guess that 3rd bus was parked on Double Yellows? Ot should be reported to the council if the problem happens into the New Year.

Sent the pictures to Cllr Wanger (Tunstall) see wwhat happens.
The day after the wardle spokesman sent the response back, their buses were in the spot causing the blockage.
wardle buses park in the
wardle buses park in the middle of our road to pick kids up to go school in the morning and bring them back in the afternoon- but always cause problems because even if theres parking to the side they just sit in the middle of the road causing hold ups for other residents .
then they reverse up the road expecting every one to move out of their way.

I had the same issue the other day as well when i peeped the driver he gave me a lovely wave, as i was waiting to pass by the side of them whilst waiting for other cars to come around the 3 of them sitting there across from a busy junction..
Not only do they stop the flowing traffic but they also cause pedestrians to step into the middle of the road from the access away from Asda, inconsiderate morons.
They of course have to have breaks but as supposedely professional drivers we would hope they could park 100yds or so up the road, or even find a quiet spot to eat.
Wardles need to look at this and not give lame excuses and reasons why their drivers have no common sense....

Glad it wasn't just me being a killjoy again.
D&G buses the original culprit have yet to respond, and I was hoping for Cllr Wanger's response.
Wardles point that they bring a lot of shoppers into town is valid, but at the same time, that car park was rammed over Christmas. The spokesman also pointed out the mad parking in places of Tunstall (I can only assume he meant the roundabout by Big Deals).Hope there isn't tit-for-tat parking going on by the buses.
A small amount of common sense is all that is needed. You don't need to park your bus for 20 minutes infront of a busy junction.
I think it needs looking at in line with Wanger and the Tunstall Chamber of Trade's parking think tank
