Ricky Gregory sentenced to 11 years for his part in Andreas Fantousi murder in Bond Street Tunstall, 2010
A third person has today been sentenced to 11 years in prison for killing Andreas Fantousi in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent.
Ricky Gregory, aged 23 and from Tunstall, was sentenced at Newcastle-upon-Tyne Crown Court after pleading guilty to manslaughter earlier this month.
Gregory was given an 11-year prison sentence and four years on extended licence, plus a four-year concurrent sentence for violent disorder.
In September, Sheree Smith, aged 20, was sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of murder. She was ordered to serve a minimum of 18 years before being considered for release.
Michael Gordon (22) was sentenced to ten years in prison after being convicted of manslaughter.
Both defendants, from Tunstall, were sentenced following a trial at Stafford Crown Court. They were also convicted of violent disorder and given concurrent prison sentences – Smith for three years and Gordon for three and a half years.
Sophie Manning (20), also from Tunstall, received three years’ detention at a young offenders’ institution after also being convicted of violent disorder.
Mr Fantousi (30) who lived in Bond Street, Tunstall, suffered fatal injuries during an incident which occurred on Monday 22 November 2010.
Chief Inspector Adrian Roberts, commander of Stoke-on-Trent North Local Policing Team (LPT), said:
Today’s final sentence is welcomed. Four people are now serving sentences for their involvement in this crime.
“I hope the sentences bring some comfort to the family and friends of Mr Fantousi and they can now move forward with their lives.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank witnesses who came forward and gave evidence in this matter. The help and support received from members of the Tunstall community following this incident was pivotal in gathering evidence against the four defendants and building a case.
“Witnesses who came forward made a real difference and helped to secure a positive conviction.
“Members of the public who witness a crime are always encouraged to come forward and help bring offenders to justice.
“Together with our partners we remain committed to addressing any issues of concern local people have and neighbourhood officers will continue to progress the positive relationships we have with members of the community.”
