Changes to your recycling collections for 2012

From Monday 2nd Janurary 2012 Stoke-on-Trent City Council will no longer be able to  dispose of your cardboard in your brown bin due to cuts in the budget that will effect the brown bin service during the winter months. To combat this you will have to put your cardboard in the Blue Bin.

After this date please put your cardboard in your blue bin.

The sticker from Stoke-on-Trent city council warns you that if your brown bin contains cardboard after the 31st of Janurary 2012 you will receive a contamination notice and your bin will not be emptied! The council then advise that if you need an extra blue bin or green box please ring Stoke-on-Call 01782 234 000

Rules about what you can put in your bin can be found on Stoke-on-Trent's website on the following page
http://www.stoke.gov.uk/ccm/navigation/environment/waste-and-recycling/recycling/ the information will be updated in the new year.

It is my understanding that

It is my understanding that we can start putting cardboard in the blue bin from 2nd Jan 2012... then we have a months grace until the 31st JANUARY 2012 to get our brown bins emptied of any existing cardboard that may be in there already and then we will be liable for contamination notices from the end of January 2012. So on the 1st of January it is ok to put it in the brown bin as you will still be ok for another month!

Confusing... but that's the council for you! Wink
