Winter Walks

Bit of a random post here I afraid, I was reading the sentinel online and spotted an inspirational photo

and thought to meself that it would be nice to go for wander up there, as you do.

So I open up the old favourite Google and have a look for The Cloud Staffordshire

Doesn't really look the same as what I was looking for and the websites describing the walks are so drab an ancient looking, yes they probable do their job if your in the know and already have a pile of OS maps, but all those grid refferences are bit off putting if just want to go for a wander.

With all modern phones and apps and what nots there must be a more user friendly way of finding and being guided on a walk this winter holiday time.

Hope your not all expecting me to reveal that wonder app, as I have not found it yet (but will carry on my quest) but as I found this pretty decent site Walk4Life which seem a bit more with it, ya get me. So thought I thought I'd write up and share my discovery.

I hope your travel through my blog, will lead you on many future travels.

Merry Xmas
Ian

Nice one Ian, I love random

Nice one Ian, I love random on the site, it's all local interest.
I'm just doing some work on that very same website before I break up for the holidays that you might enjoy.

For those of you who don't use it http://www.walk4life.info/ Walk 4 Life you record and share your walks and even better news is in the new year, you'll be able to download the phone app. You can also create your own groups, let people join and manage walking groups using it. (all using the same code base as MyTunstall - Drupal)

Please note - work = refinements not bug fixing, that would be mad so close to breaking up so close to the holidays! So if the screen goes white, I can categorically say erm, erm, winter effect.
