Winter Wonderland - Tamworth Snowdome
I like snow as much as the next person, but I am not a skier (something to do with a fear of breaking limbs) so the snowdome is not somewhere I would naturally gravite to, however an email from Enjoy Staffordshire (if you don't have one of their cards, seriously get one!) brought their Winter Wonderland to our attention.
Described briefly as playing in snow, a Rainbow stage show and then meeting Santa's reindeers doesn't really do it justice. The first bit in the snow is good fun for all ages, and the stage show (I was envisaging something like the panto) is actually a very intimate little affair with Zippy and George. Meeting the reindeers is also far more, with quite a good little petting zoo (indoors) and some other things too.
Although Santa makes an appearance, the snowdome are clear that you don't actually get to meet Santa (I think it's good that they are clear from the outset on that), and although the show felt a bit rushed at times (not quite enough time to play out the panto references for the adults), I guess that is part of the fact the actors concerned have been doing it twenty times a day for the last month! Anyway, my two (5, and 6 months) were both transfixed. Even Mr Brown joined in the singalong at the end!!
There's a big car park, £1 for snowdome users, and inside there is a large cafe etc. For booking early, I got a 15% discount (Enjoy Staffs card email), and all in all we were in Winter Wonderfland for just over an hour. As Tamworth is a bit of a jaunt, I combined this with tobogganing for Mr Brown and 5yo son, which lasted 30 minutes and was very enjoyable apparently! Would recommend combining with something else if you can. We also went at teatime on a Sunday, which I found to be a good time as it was quite quiet, particularly when we left.
Only slight niggle was that having booked and got all excited, it then snowed the weekend we went! Oh well!

Defiantly one to put on the possibles list for next year. How did you get on carrying a baby about. Where there many pit stop points for you?
I think as a place to go we'll be heading off just to enjoy some of snow fun.
Cheers Abi.
Merry Christmas

Well, it says that you can't take pushchairs into Winter Wonderland but I saw someone with one. Luckily, Mr Brown likes carrying Alexis around in a babycarrier so we did that. It wasn't very spread out so not too tiring, though you'd probably struggle if there was only one parent with a toddler and a non-walker if you didn't use a carrier of some sort.
I don't recall anywhere to sit in the snow play bit, but then the time flew, so it didn't matter. Plenty of seating in the theatre and then the petting zoo, so not a problem. The Snowdome seems like a fairly family-friendly location. I stood on the cafe veranda/viewing platform to watch the tobogganing - again, lots of seating available too.
Merry Christmas to you too!
