Basic Pottery Making Course

In 6 two hour sessions you will have opportunity to learn basic pottery hand building techniques, learn how to use a decorating slip and at the end of the course you will have several your very own unique ceramic creations to take home.

We will visit a major studio ceramics event in London - Ceramic Art London 2012

You will discover how to create a great looking ceramics display.

We will invite you to a guided tour to the local ceramicists cooperative studios.

At the end of the course you will have an opportunity to participate and sell your work in a local craft fair.

The course will start on Wednesday 1st February 2012 10:30 at Burslem School of Art.
The course is free, but booking is important as places are limited.

Ceramics Making Collecting and Selling

This course is built from several modules, where you can take part in all of them or choose just one most appealing for you.

Ceramics making is aimed at adults with a basic knowledge in hand building in clay.
You will have up to 8 hours a week studio time to work on and develop your own ceramic projects.
Once a week consultancy time with a ceramic tutor.
Up to 25kg clay, some decorating slip and basic glazes free of charge.
Free access to studio tools and equipment.
You will have a display and sell space available in one of the Burslem School of Art craft cabinets.

Ceramics collecting will give you basic understanding about recognizing and acquiring locally made pottery collectables. Also learn about some of the star potters of the past and how to recognize their pots.
In a full day seminar type event you will have an insight in to local ceramics history of collectables.
Will learn how to recognize and where to look for ceramics collectibles.
Will explore ways of trading in collectables.

Ceramics selling Find out how to use safely and with confidence Ebay - the worlds biggest online auction
In two sessions learn the secret of successful selling and buying online.
Take part in real life craft fair.
Learn the basics of approaching art galleries.

Introduction to the personal studio time and enrollment is on
Friday 3February 2012 10am-12 at Burslem School of Art and
Tuesday 7February 2012 15:30-17:30 at Burslem School of Art
