Hip Hip Hooray...Work on our new community playing field  has finally begun.

Monday 13th February will go down in the history of Brindley Ford Community Residents Association as a victory for the village.

After years of feeling like we were on a helter-skelter; believing we were having PlayBuilder money, consultations done, plans drawn up, completion dates given, our funding was withdrawn due to government cuts, and we were back to square one again.

Our thanks go to all our councillors past and present (Peter Kent-Bagguley, Janine Bridges, Tony Fradley and Ann James)  for helping us to get funding.

See plans of new play area on the village notice board in Bridge Street.

Originally we were due to

Originally we were due to have PlayBuilder funding, but with government cuts our playground was never started.  It has been a long time in coming, and thanks must go to the core people who really kept the flame alight that we needed something for the young in our community.  Prior to PlayBuilder the Residents Association were considering leasing the field and fund raising ourselves.  At that time we applied to Robbie Williams 'Give it Sum' and we received a grant for £5,000 towards drainage.  We paid the council over £800 for a topography report. Then Playbuilder funding  came along and we  thought everything would be fine.Once this funding was removed we were back to square one again.  We didn't manage to get the NatWest Community Challenge £6,000, (but congratulations to the successful applicants, all good causes).  Finally we managed to put together the remainder of the Give it Sum fund, Section 106 money, and a donation from the residents association account.  Clubing the funds together has produced enough money for a new play area, all be it much smaller that previously planned.  Changes also came about because Playbuilder was due to be designed with 'natural play', we have been able to choose traditional play equipment for ours.  Hope this is helpful to you.
