Proposals are going on display in various locations in the city centre and include ideas for seating, lighting, greenery and paving which will create a more visitor friendly atmosphere for visitors and shoppers. Stoke Your Fires is back

Stoke Your Fires, the festival of the moving image, is now in its fifth year and the 2012 festival is set to be the biggest and best yet. There will be three screening venues and a fantastic training programme, including two of the world’s most renowned documentary film makers, as well as their core programme of screenings, workshops, community engagement activities and Awards. This year we are pleased to welcome Robin Emmerson, former Head of Decorative Arts at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, to talk on the subject Josiah Wedgwood’s production line with evidence from Oven Books. Commemorate the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic

2012 marks 100 years since the sinking of the titanic. To honour this occasion, The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery are running a series of special events, as well as a themed trail around the museum.

Titanic – The Return of a Dream

In this highly acclaimed presentation, the story of the ship from her conception in 1907, to rediscovery in 1985 is told in dramatic fashion by Andrew Lound. Olympic Torch Relay comes to Stoke-on-Trent

The city council is honoured and privileged to host this event, which will see the sacred Olympic Flame pass from one Torchbearer to another. Race for Life is an amazing women-only series of events which raises millions of pounds every year for life-saving research into 200 types of cancer – helping men, women and children across Staffordshire survive.
