Knypersley resident Linda Kelly is using the Douglas Macmillan Hospice’s 5K run/walk event to help her complete a weight loss challenge.
The 48 year old Vodafone worker, originally from Ireland, started the challenge in January and has already lost two stone.
“I am using the 5K as part of my personal challenge to lose a stone by May,” she said.
She is no stranger to the work of the Dougie Mac, after her father was cared for by their palliative care nurses four years ago.
“My father was helped by the Hospice four years ago, so it is a charity close to my heart.”
“My mother and best friend were also cared for by Hospices’ in London and Dublin respectively so I know a lot about the wonderful work they do.”
Vodafone have also pledged to price match Linda’s fundraising which currently stands at £350; with her aim being £1000.
“I am doing the 5K event with some friends. I am delighted to have signed up to the event, and help out such a great cause,” she said.
Zoe Hollingsworth, Senior Fundraising Development Manager said,
“Stories like Linda’s are truly inspirational; we are hoping she can raise £1000 to help fund the patient care we are renowned for across North Staffordshire.”
