view counter

This paper clipping   from 1978 reports  about  the large corner windows    for the Stoke-on-Trent  museum, it brings pride to our family  because my dad   Peter Adams made them.

He was working  for  Brundretts  the shop fitters company  in Tunstall where  they made  many of the  citys high  street shops   window frames ,  door frames ,shelving units   etc.

Shopping trips   when younger  was  spot the  window/door frame made by dad, when my children were younger  it was  find grandads window frames.

Shops he works on  were Sainsburys , Rumbelows, M&S, Wrights pie shops,Lewis's , Appollo2000,Bucks jewerally,Cumbos car dealaship, William  Hills,  Bejams, John English.and many more small independant shops  through out the city.

Hi Dereth Small world, my Dad

Hi Dereth Small world, my Dad worked there too. I've not heard the word "Rumbelows" for a good few years.

My brother and I used to go with him on jobs at the weekend if he needed to finish jobs off. Thanks for the memory jog.

Every time we saw the giant

Every time we saw the giant Tea Pot in the potteries shopping centre, I'd hear a tale of my Dad helping to make that. Happy times.

This article brings back

This article brings back memories. I first visited the museum on a school trip, I think it was primary school so I wasn't very old at the time. I remember standing in one of those windows and looking out at the many bottle kilns. The window itself and the view fascinated me.

I've since been back to the museum more recently and most of those kilns have since been demolished :-(

I didn't know the windows were installed in1978, and I will always remember that now as that's the year that I was born.
