People and pets Advocates

Support for pet owners in times of ill health or other crises.

PAPAS - People And Pets Advocates - aim is to alleviate peoples’ worries and fears if ill health or other crises comes between them and the care of their pets by offering an alternative to

re - homing, abandoning, neglecting or destroying a pet during this stressful time.

PAPAS are dedicated to offering free practical help, such as Dog walking and Pet Fostering, emotional and ongoing support to people in need of assistance for themselves and their pets.

There have been many incidents of people who need help, even of some who have refused urgent hospital treatment unless someone can be found to look after their cherished pets, unfortunately, not everyone has a friend or relative who is able to help in these times of need.

PAPAS can offer help.

There is no age limit for their services so this younger dog lover can find help when she needs it.

PAPAS will find someone to be Max’s friend, someone who will take the time to earn his trust, so he can continue enjoying his walks and games.   If Max’s owner is ever hospitalised or totally incapacitated a temporary home from home can also be arranged.

If a Pet needs a trip to the vet PAPAS can take them there.

PAPAS are flexible enough to be able to help wherever help is needed.

In order to offer help like this, PAPAS needs volunteers.

Could you help PAPAS help others?

Could you volunteer and provide help with dog-walking, transporting a sick pet to the vet, fostering, respite pet care, grooming or help run the Pet Bereavement Phoneline?

If you can help, please contact Julia on 0300 666 3 999 or email enquiries@papas.org.uk

Volunteer:

Walk, jog or even plod with a dog!
Give a sick pet a lift to the vet.
Offer them a roof over their head when that "rainy day" arrives.
Whatever you could do, we'd love to hear from you!

If your work commitments and lifestyle are not suited to owning a full time pet, join us and help share in the care of a pet for a person in need.

MY Personal  thoughts-

There is  a time when everyone  needs to ask other   people/strangers  for their  help. It may be a simple  question like   “can you pass me ......  please” or  “can you tell me the way to ......” other times a more  personal assistance is   needed and is  given freely  and without  question  by family and friends.

Last week   my sister  was told she had cancer,  she starts  chemo  next week and  its a difficult   and worrying  time ahead of her.

One worry she has is  her dogs- she will not be able to walk them once her treatment  starts . some people will think that  should be  her least of her worries, but its a worry for her.

there  are   people  and  charities about that can and well help.  one small but very willing  and helpful  charity is

People and Pets Advocate  support pet owners by sharing the care of their pets during times of ill health, disablement and personal crises.

from a phone call last night , i understand that there is just one volunteer  in the ST   area  and  they live in Stafford.  im hoping to help  this charity and  my sister by  promoting  this  good cause , and  wish that more people in the stoke-on-trent are will be able to  surport  this charity .  making people  more aware  that  there is other help  too.  if they  need it  in the furture.

if you can spare  half an hour  once a week  then  that is gladly  accepted .

Lots of luck to your sister

Lots of luck to your sister Dereth and I agree we should spread the word about this charity, I bet there's lots of people who would enjoy looking after animals sometimes but can't take on the full commitment.
