Cult Film Friday
January to March, 7pm
The Forum Theatre, Potteries Museum & Art Gallery
Film fans will be able to watch three classic movies at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery. The museum is showing critically acclaimed films (Alien, 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Untouchables) on the last Friday of the month inside its 300-seat Forum Theatre from Friday 25 January until March. RESPECT Community Action Day
Monday 18 February
Ford Green and Smallthorne
A community action day, in partnership between the city council, police and fire service and will focus on the streets of Ford Green and Smallthorne. Skips which can be used free of charge to dispose of bulky household items will be placed on a number of streets in the area between 9am and 2pm. Waste land will be cleared up, new litter bins will be installed and there will also be litter picks. The city council’s environment team will be sweeping and cleaning the area, pruning trees and treating weeds. The environmental crime team will also be out in force, tackling dog fouling and fly tipping. Crime prevention advice and free equipment will be handed out on the police bus, parked on Repington Road between 10am-4pm, and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service will be carrying out home fire safety checks. Street pastors will visit the area, as well as the Local Matters and Safer City Partnership teams.

Piccadilly Summer 2013 – get involved
Monday 25 February, 5.30pm to 7.30pm
Mitchell Arts Centre
Traders are being invited to come forward with their ideas and suggestions for this year’s Piccadilly Summer event. Held annually in the City Centre’s Cultural Quarter, organisers are hoping to once again put on a range of fun activities that will attract family audiences every Saturday in July. Previous festivals have included art displays, workshops, performances by dance and music acts and sales of clothes and foods from around the world. Last year’s festival saw thousands of people head to the City Centre with footfall peaking in Piccadilly on one Saturday alone at more than 21,000 people, helping to create a friendly, party atmosphere.
Stoke Your Fires – tickets now on sale

This year’s Stoke Your Fires celebrates the best of British cinema and opens with the UK festival premiere of independent British film, Pulp. There will also be screenings of Last Shop Standing, Turbulence andTortoise in Love, all made here in the UK, with a Q&A session with the directors. To celebrate Michael Caine’s 80th birthday in March, there will also be a day of some of his classic films and see another very British institution; Daniel Craig as 007 in Casino Royale. Come along to the very first Hush-Hush film event. What’s the film? We can’t tell you. Give yourself up to a totally live cinema experience at a mystery venue. StreetGames delivers free sports multi-sports coaching to young people aged 8-18 in Stoke-on-Trent.
