FIREWORK DISPLAY RAISES THOUSANDS FOR SPECIAL NEEDS CHARITY
Johnson Tiles Fundraising Cheque Presentation to The Peter Pan Nursery
A fundraising cheque presentation was held at The Peter Pan Nursery for children with special needs on the 7th February in honour of the fundraising efforts of Johnson Tiles in October 2012.
The Peter Pan Nursery for children with special needs was selected by Johnson Tiles’ ‘The Bonfire Team’ as one of the two local charities to benefit from the proceeds of the Firework Extravaganza which was held on Saturday 27th October 2012 at the Ravensdale former sports field, Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent.
The final amount raised for the Nursery was announced on the 7th February 2013 to a value of £5,000. Representatives from Johnson’s Tiles Bonfire Team included Ann Moult, the Procurement and Administration Director, who presented the charity with a formal cheque.
Ann Moult commented:
“We are delighted with the amount we have been able to raise for such a deserving local charity. Each year our Firework display attracts hundreds of visitors from all over Staffordshire and Cheshire which helps us to collect these vital funds and creating awareness in the community of charities such as The Peter Pan Nursery.”
The Peter Pan Nursery for children with special needs provides professional support and care to children from birth to five years old who have a wide range of disabilities, conditions and syndromes, such as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Visual and Hearing Impairments, Physical delays and Speech and Language delays.
Chair Trustee of The Peter Pan Nursery, Geoff Wilson was amongst the representatives of the charity who received the cheque donation and commented:
“Johnsons Tiles and everyone who attended the Bonfire event back in October 2012 have done a tremendous job to raise £5,000. The charity is currently facing major cuts to its funding and we are predicting a loss of approximately £100,000. This therefore has to be replaced through corporate and community fundraising.”
The Peter Pan Nursery is the only setting in the Staffordshire County providing care and education for children with special needs from birth to five years old. Nationally, there is no state provision in terms of specialist day care for these children until they reach the age of three years old.
“We are still a long way off reaching our target but every little helps to keep our charity running at its current capacity; with a view for us to one day employ more staff and reduce our waiting list.”
