Tunstall Victorian Park Trust started their fund raising appeal off in style this weekend at the local Asda.

As well as raising awareness about what the trust have been doing over the past few years, they also lauched a new scheme to restore the main entrance iron gates which have over the years sucmumbed to wear and tear and a fair bit of rust.

The trust raised £202 during the event from public donations and would like to thank ASDA for letting the trust have the use of the foyer and especially ASDA Tunstall's customers for their generosity.

As well as the £202 raised over the weekend, Steelite have pledged £200, the promised £500 from the Stoke-on-Trent Lions and other donations received ,  the trust now  have just over £1000 towards the refurbishment of the gates.

Megan Ryan, one of the Tunstall Victorian Park Trust Members said

We've at least £15.000 to go, probably a lot more because we've got to do the concrete posts too! We'll also be setting up Paypal donate for anyone who would like to donate online. The gates are looking a little sad now, and we'd love to restore them to their former glory.

I was very surprised at the

I was very surprised at the support we got on the day.

It boosted my confidence in the people.

There was a lot of interest and suggestions.

Its a pity the council are not interested as much as the local people in our Heritage.

Thank you to all that donated and filled in the forms of support.
