Signal 1 Drive Time Presenter Martin Lowes has kickstarted the station’s fundraising for the upcoming Bring a Pound Day, by taking part in an ‘at the minute’ challenge.
Martin received a call on his show on Thursday 12th September, where a listener challenged him not to use the phrase ‘at the minute’ during his five hour show between 2pm & 7pm that day.
In turn Martin said if he completed the challenge he would donate £50 to Douglas Macmillan Hospice as part of Bring a Pound Day.
Unfortunately Martin did mention the phrase during the show, but then decided to donate £100 instead to the Hospice for failing to complete the challenge.
Martin will present the donation to a Hospice representative at Signal Radio on Wednesday 18th September at 3pm.
Martin Lowes commented,
“Everyone at Signal is looking forward to Bring a Pound Day, so we have been thinking of creative ways to get the ball rolling and raise some money for Dougie Mac in the lead up.
“When I received the phone call regarding the challenge a light bulb went off in my head to make it a fund raiser. This is my first Bring a Pound Day, so I am especially looking forward to it.”
Liz Clarke, Head of Fundraising added,
“We cannot thank Martin and the Signal team for their kind donation towards Bring a Pound Day.
“Bring a Pound Day is a really special day where the entire community of North Staffordshire comes together and supports Douglas Macmillan Hospice.
“All money raised will help the Hospice continue to care for local people facing a life limiting illness.”
