Douglas Macmillan Hospice supporter Richard Stonier has begun his toughest fundraiser yet, a ‘living in a box’ challenge at ASDA Tunstall until Friday.
For seven days Personal Trainer Richard, from Shelton, will be based at ASDA Tunstall on Scotia Road, and have just 15 minute breaks every four hours.
This is one of 40 challenges Richard will undertake throughout 2013, which have so far included running the Potters Arf twice, a sponsored skydive as well as the Hospice’s 5K Run/Walk and Ruby Bike Ride amongst others.
He is joined inside the 7 foot by 7 foot structure, kindly donated by FWB Products, by friend Carl Heaton.
Richard Stonier commented,
“My aim is to raise £40,000 for Dougie Mac, who cared for my mum who sadly passed away last November.
Richard’s challenge will continue throughout Hospice Care Week, which begins on Monday 7th October, and culminates on Dougie Mac’s Bring a Pound Day which takes place on Friday 11th October.
“I have done some really challenging events so far, but mentally this will be the toughest as I am very active person. Hopefully plenty of people will come and show their support.”
Liz Clarke Head of Fundraising commented,
“We cannot thank Richard enough for the money he has raised so far, doing some truly extraordinary events; and we wish him luck living in a box for a week.
“All the monies Richard raises will help the Hospice continue to care for local people of North Staffordshire facing a life limiting illnesses.”
