12 months later Stoke gets Google Street View, and isn't it good.
Nearly 12 months after googles failed attempt to launch streetview in the UK, 1 law ruling later, the rest of the country is waking up this morning to google streetview.
Implications are massive for uses both good and bad.
The Good
People wanting directions, to plan a route better, to see where they are actually being taken is a bonus. Estate agents will hopefully soon wake up to street maps, and start embedding code into their sites, to give people a better idea of the homes they are trying to sell. Sites like Bankeyfields, can now visually mark a location, which I'll be making full use of in the business directory over the coming weeks.
The Bad
Burglars - they can have a good recky of the front of your house, checking whose got alarms, who hasn't, best point of entry from the front, lighting, etc.
Being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Say some one was having extra marital conundrums, and their car was parked outside someone's house when the photos were taken, then there might be a few problems.
Google have stressed that every picture from every angle taken, has been preprocessed to blur faces and number plates.
So if anyone wants to see if that's true, see if you recognise the lady in the paddock walking her black dog.
My first job at Reggie Ripp-offs news agents - The Rookery, Kidsgrove.

I don't know if I am lucky or
I don't know if I am lucky or unlucky with the position of my house it cannot be seen on streetveiw. lol
I did see you'd got a way with it
I'm going to say lucky, because unless you want to sell your house you'd not really want random strangers casing were you live, especially it's location. Saying that if you wanted to create directions to your house to email to friend you'd be a little stuck, but you could fill in the gaps. On this example, I'm giving directions from Reginald Mitchell Way to the small roundabout.

Google Street view good and bad
Just taken a look at Google Street View my first impressions was what a great addition to Google maps then I began to think of the bad things if you were a career criminal this gives you the chance to stake out your next burglary without even leaving the house. At least with the satellite view you could not determine whether or not the house had an alarm on it.
Sex Shop
I saw this link on Pits N Pots, a fella walking out of a sex shop in longton. One to try and explain away to the Mrs.

At first when I saw the dog, I thought it was Millie, so presumed the walker was going to be either Drew or yourself, way off the mark.
