This is from a reminiscence project I did a couple of years ago- interviewing 4 different age groups all live in Burslem
My Bustling Burslem remembered.

I have lived in Burslem all my life, I’m 15. I feel that Burslem is a ghost town –its dead.
The only shops that i use are Woolworths and wrights pie shop I do go to have my eyes tested in Nustyle. And i go the library.
I remember going in the indoor market, to buy Pokémon cards, and there was a pet stall there too, my mum used to talk to the woman there, she was a friend of my nans –the market is shut now I think the roof fell in.
I remember calling in the newsagents on Waterloo Road, for a chocolate bar and comic, the people there were very friendly, one day i went to go in and the shop was closed, it never opened again.
I would like to see more shops opening in the area, people do open shops but they seem not to be able to stay there, there are a lot of empty shops.
I went to St John’s nursery and infant school, St Pauls-which changed its name to John Baskeyfield VC School, then Brownhills High School,
I have taken part in street carnivals-i was a thunderbird man, with a big green homemade thunderbirds 1 costume, we walked through the streets,
I’ve danced and sang on a stage by Woolworths with Burslem Stars(a theatre youth group)ive also been on the stage at the Queen Theatre –that was with Burslem Stars too
Im proud that the pottery industry started in Burslem.
