When this site was first set up, it was aimed purley at members of the Bankeyfields estate, but as time has gone by, users from surrounding areas have joined and had said their say, which I'm very grateful for.

However one thing that puts new people from joining in, is the name. It puts them off. So I'm thinking (just thinking) of running a new name to the site. I was thinking of something like "localtunstall" or something like that.

All of my conent will be based from this neck of the woods, but it will also make it easier for new people to join up, and contribute.

There is a big online community in Tunstall, and this site could act as a valuable resource for everyone.

What do you think?

Name change

I can see your point with regard to a name change and the reasons for doing so. However, this should really be a point on the agenda for either Tuesdays meeting or the next meeting.

I've got no problem if the topic is raised at the meeting, but the real debate is here on the website, with the users who are the key part of the site.

To be honest, the only thing that will change is the name (Although you'll still be able to use the URL). We already have Forums in place for the past few years for Sandyford/Golden Hill area and Tunstall.

It just removes that barrier for people using the site, and to be honest, there is an aweful lot of ampathy from the people who the site was orginally aimed at, so why not widen the spectrum that little bit more.

On first thoughts, I agree Matt. The original name serves the purpose if it is just for residents of the Bankeyfields, estates. but thngs have changed, in both directions as you describe- there are lots of people who live here but dont use the site. And lots of people elsewhere in the area who would want to use it.

We've got a Tunstall forum, but not for the larger area

Should a new forum be created called Stoke, or North Staffs?

Domain name - Sharky

Hiya Mark, I've probably not explained this very well.

The Bankeyfields domain name/name will still exist, I've done to much link building over the years just to let go of it, and the site has it's own history and actually is spoken of highly locally and even nationally.

What I'd do is buy another domain name, and run both together, and modify the header logo so people realise that the site isn't just about one tiny tiny part of Tunstall/Sandyford but for all of the area.

One of the problems could be that there are too many forum groups, and group it into more meaningful areas, and better laid out.

We've had a separate tunstall and Goldenhill/Sandyford forum areas running for the past two years, which people have posted in.

This will be the main logo, but there will also be a bankeyfields logo along side it.

Any thoughts?

The wings represent the web pages, and the freedom of information.

I've also registered the domain name www.mytunstall.co.uk

Any feedback please on these

Any feedback please on these logos would be welcome. If anyone is wondering, on the images on their own,  the bit on the right are meant to be speech bubbles.

Name Change Logo

I like number 8. I would not be against number 5 either. However, number 8 would be my first choice.
