It's suggested that there was a mini ice age after the black death because of amount of people dying, agriculture was left unattended, reforestation arose. With a expansion of trees taking carbon out of the atmosphere created a cooling effect.
How easy would it be for us as a community to raise enough cash to plant a couple of trees on the open space or on the paddock (Steve GS any estimates)? Horse Chestnuts would be good so the kids can play conkers.
I know we aren't going to cool the world, but if every where does it maybe it will make a tiny difference.

Cor blimey do you know how old Horse Chesnuts are before they bear fruit (conkers) maybe your grand children may get a game. I am thinking of putting a nice Scots pine on the open space at the end of our road. When it gets a bit more mature we could put Christmas decorations on it or should I say "winter fest".

I thought you could plant them in any suitable area ie school grounds.
