Visit from Joan Walley about the poor maintenance of the open space and the new fire station
I had an unexpected but welcome visitor today, it the shape of Joan Walley MP, and our local Fire Chief (Julian Hilditch station commander at Stoke on Trent).
Mrs Walley came to the estate today to investigate the irregular maintenance of the open space, as She and the Chief both believe that as well as not looking the best, the open space could be a potential fire problem.
She was due to meet with Ian Hook, who has the responsibility of overseeing this sort of problem. Sadly Mr Hook couldn't make the meeting but did however he did arrange for the open space to have a trim and hedge today.
As it's a issue that has been raised a few times since the open space was put in place, I think you'll appreciate Joans efforts in stepping in to get this issue tackled.
We'll be getting some more news posted onto the site shortly, with updates of the new fire station, and what we can expect. Keep a eye out for a new user shortly.
I'd just like to say thanks to Joan for her looking in on our little corner of the world, I know I appreciate it. It was also good to meet Joan, she's very approachable, works hard and is a long suffering vale fan ( I didn't know that until tonight when my Dad said you sit a down and to the left of him all of last season ).

I would not care if Joan was
I would not care if Joan was representing the monster raving looney party, she works hard to keep our neck of the woods in as good order as it can be, (but a vale fan), still no politician can be perfect, LOL. It is very good news that our new Fire chief is keen to come onboard, to tell us what is happening about the new station, I think web monkey should be congratulated, neigh, knighted, we now have major people from all walks of life contributing to the site, So sir web monkey of bankeyfields, what have you got planned next, can you inform your legions about the forthcoming NHW conference, and its importance on our estate. I truly think that this site is brill, and can inform a whole lot of folks about what is going on, it just needs all of the community to give their input of what makes a community tick, forget free laptops for schools, give everyone on the estate communication, powered by wind turbines, why on earth do people object to them, fossil fuels are dying out, we need an alternative.
I have to say I have noticed
I have to say I have noticed that the open space has been cleared over the last few days, I thought it must have been all you guys getting together to sort it as no-one else had.
Congrats WM for getting this sorted

Hi Janet, welcome baclk to Blighty.
I've had nothing to do with it. I suggested to geegilly that she should get in touch as she responded quickly to my inital post, not sure if geegilly did or not though.
All the thanks should go Joan's way.
