"More gipsy camps are needed across North Staffordshire to prevent a rise in the numbers of travellers staying illegally on private and publicly owned sites."

"The survey warns that unless changes are made to better meet the needs of the travelling community, taxpayers will have to foot a rising bill for enforcement notices to move on travellers from unauthorised camps, while families of gipsies would suffer poor living conditions."

At this point I had to chuckle. Isn't that the whole point of being a Gypsy?

No TV, hair dryers, toasters, videos, sky+, mobile phones, washing machines, computers, wide screen TVs (you'd need a big caravan), Xbox, playstaion, wii fit (not enough room in a caravan to play the bare knuckle boxing game).

No fixed showers, toilets, baths, no mod cons, it's not a right to have then if your opting out of that way of life anyway.

Anyway, for more read The sentinels articles, the comments are quite humerous too, although some are a bit harsh.

Caravan sites

Surely there are many caravan sites locally, whereby everyone who buys a caravan goes somewhere locally to test it out before going on a main holiday. it only costs about £20 pounds a night. Maybe the caravan club can issue the same criteria to the councils in Wales, Devon and Cornwall. you do pay extra for electricity, sat hook up and connections to main water supply, and you are not allowed to throw your rubbish about. If throughout the country these sites went up I would buy a caravan myself, cheap holiday.
