WHERE - The Paddock (field next to the roundabout)
DATE - YOU DECIDE - VOTE - I've added a Poll -you'll see it in the side bar.
FOOD & DRINK - Bring your own
ORGANISERS: Steve and James

Everyone is welcome to attend the Bankeyfields BBQ Summer 2008 - All we'd like you to do is to express an interest.

Place a vote on the poll about which day suits you better and it would be great if you could post in this thread or on the poll that you'd like to come.

It's best if people bring their own food, and Popeye and James the vet will cook it in their own fashion, apparently their both dab hands at the old BBQ thing.

If any one has a spare fire extinguisher they could bring down, I'm sure it might come in handy.

Looks like everyone has

Looks like everyone has dissapeared since we asked about the community BBQ, IN Deliah Smith,s immortal words "where are you"

Never let them win, now that

Never let them win, now that really would be tragic.

I'll put the apathy down to school holidays, and people doing stuff.

To get over the damage to the park, you dont fragment, you strengthen your selves. We have the startings of a strong group, and this bbq is a chance for this to happen and for our community to grow.

The bbq is a chance to meet, talk about and raise awareness the hot topics.

Imagine if your parents/grand parents throw in the towel when france was invaded, there would be more than just an aldi in every town.

Come on bankeyfields, time to stand up and be counted.

Right I'm off to light a cigar

Down ? Dejected ? Miserable

Down ? Dejected ? Miserable ? Of course I am there was no Abbott Ale on in The Wheatsheaf last night. Its a disgrace come the revolution ....

Any way it could be worse my name could be Popeye who after his calamity on the M56 on thursday has suffered more set backs. Last night on the slopes of Snowdon it was blowing a hoolie with rain a plenty. Not the ideal time for your tent pole to snap. So taking down a tent during Snowdons finest weather is not a job to be recomended. I will convince him it is all character building stuff LOL.

I've got a little message

I've got a little message for popeye and anyone else who's feeling low at the moment.

It goes a little something like this.

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.

So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath

Life's a piece of shit
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.

And always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the right side of life...
(Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the bright side of life...
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life...
(I mean - what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life...

So as Steve say things could be worse.

Seriously now you could be sitting in your living room sipping a cuppa, when a stray bomb from a mig fulcrum smashes into your apartment block blowing you and your family to pieces.

Thanks for your kind words,

Thanks for your kind words, fortunately i am not one of those people who gets depressed or down, whatever happens happens and you just have to deal with it and get on with your life....

Having said that what an eventful weekend i had, from start to the premature end when the winds of snowdon split one of my fibreglass poles in 2 down the middle.

i will be going back though to such a lovely place to relax and do virtually nothing but eat, drink and sleep, river running through the site, wow what views.

Thanks all and special thanks to Ghost and Steve for sharing my events for all, i have a good memory.....

Sorry Popeye, it's the way

Sorry Popeye, it's the way Steve tells them, it just sounded so humorous. Whats River Running? Is it where you float down rapids, freezing your balls off?

"Why don't you and Deb come

"Why don't you and Deb come camping with us" Popeye says - "it'll be a laugh!" One hand up my back I reluctantly agreed whilst vaguely remembering I swore to myself I would never go camping again - not enough luxury for my liking. As the event approaced, the weather forecast did not look too good but I thought hey - ho I've got a coat! So having heartily laughed at the image of Popeye's sleeping bags strewn across the m56 I set off on Friday afternoon to join him. M6 stationary between 17 & 19 I decided to head towards Chester where some bright spark decided it would be a good idea to close a road for the summer holidays Sad Nearly 4 HOURS later I landed at the camp site and was happily handed a cold beer Smile

Tent went up pretty well, nice evening and everything was good.

2:20am could not take it anymore! The "nice river" which was 20ft away from us was playing serious havoc with my bladder and I just HAD to go. Bloody hell its dark in Wales! Dog decided she would come with me (keep me safe Wink ) and we got to the toilet blocks and they were closed for cleaning! Cleaning at 2 O'clock in the morning!! Off I strutted to the next block and I thought - that wind is getting up a bit!! Anyway, back into bed and off to sleep.

4:00am WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON! The wind and rain were really giving it some! The wind was THAT strong that it was literally collapsing the centre of our 8 man tent then springing back up when the wind died down! I later found out that the winds were gusting to 60+ mph. Needless to say that no sleep followed for the rest of the night.

I've never known coditions like it in this country (was in Hurricane Jeanne in florida but thats a bit different)and as popeye says, we got soaked wet through trying to patch up his pole with gaffer tape. I've never seen a camp site empty so quick!

My fondest memory of the weekend? Seeing my daughters play tent lifted 60ft into the air and me chasing it 300ft down the campsite Smile Will live with me forever!

Camping anytime soon? Not on your nelly!

No worries, I'll be there just as soon as I can (emergencies permitting).

But, I'll be there for burger flipping and such like!
