This post kind of relates to my earlier post about petrol prices and iPlayer, I'd like to draw your attention to a show I've just watched on the iPlayer.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00f085h/James_Mays_Big_Ideas_Power...

The whole show is James looking at alternative energy technologies that are currently being being that are currently either being researched and developed or have recently being installed and are starting to operate.

There were some exceptional technologies which will bare fruit in the next few years - such as the producing petrol out of thin air -( found in the last part of the show) which can provide a realistic stop gap for the future petrol crisis that will start in a few decades time.

The tidal experiment off the coast of ireland also showed great promise, but would have a huge environmental impact.

I'd recommend a watching if your into this sort of thing.
