16:10 this afternoon a group of about 8 teenagers set fire to the roof of the disused Summerbank warehouse above the park.
A number of the little park urchins told firemen and myself that the teenagers fleeing towards the barretts estate along the open space path, were responsible as they'd been seen on the roof, and then once the fire took hold fled.
If anyone saw the group, or knew who they were please pass the info onto the Police non emergency number - 0300 123 4455.
It makes me really angry that firemen have to put their lives at risk for morons like the lads involved.
We then went down to the park and noticed that under the toddlers climbing frame had burn marks on it as well.

WM I am not condoning what has happened here but I am not surprised. The old Alcocks cash & carry has been empty for about two years now. There is little chance of someone taking it on due to its location & the availability of more modern units in the area. So it will probably end up like the Summer Bank Garage further up the road an derelict eyesore.Only then will the local residents be up in arms.

I used to visit there about 5 years ago..Hancocks had some some good stuff there to buy, but there was a loads of crap there too.
Intersting way to spend a hour or two..
Apparantly, in days gone by, the place was a legend for buying pottery on the cheap.
Still got a fake sort of "Ming" vase thing in the conservatory.
Maybe the frost will get to it one day, and I will dispose when it breaks into pieces. LOL
