Kids Karnival 2010 - Etruria Park - Sunday 27th June

This year's Kids Karnival was held in Etruria Park (for those of you who don't know it's at the bottom of clough street, or if your traveling past the Sentinel, behind the blood bank).

For us it was a day of close timing. We should have been heading over to Britannia's fun day over at Uttoxeter Races, but because of the threat of rain (not a drop all day), and because of the looming England Germany game, I was a little unsettled of trying to get to Uttoexter and back before kick off.

Then on Saturday night, we were told about the kids fun day in Etruria park (cheers Jo), with it not being a million miles away, both me and the Mrs were sold.

I can't say I was disappointed either, what can only be described by the kids as wow, greeted us. The wow being a set of inflatable obstacle courses and play areas for all ages, which were made better by the fact that they were free.

Entertainment was coming from the DJ School, who had a fab local line up from the plucky and talented 10 year from kidsgrove, Vanessa Bebbington, who sang 3 songs to a packed park with out being phased, to the dance line up from the studio 1 girls.

There was no better way to enjoy the entertainment either by sitting in the sun whilst eating ice cream.

The DJ school hosted by Gary Oliver, has to be commended as well as the other volunteers who helped to set up the day, and again goes to show what people can do when they don't leave it to the other guy, and get on with it.

Meanwhile, our kids had cottoned on to the large number of children walking around with plastic bags with gold fish in. After a ot of nagging, we eventually found the stall, where I had to prove myself as a dad and get one of my three darts into one of 52 spread out playing cards.

The first throw was well wide, the second just missing, but the third proved my worth as a hunter gatherer, and we came away with a dinky little goldfish who we hope will enjoy a long and happy life with us.

Anyway time was ticking and one of the most disappointing England games I've ever seen needed watching, so we said farewell to the kids Karnival for this year and hope to see it again next year, with the kids happily talking to fishy, quickly popped into pet city on fessy park and home.
