Fire on the Bankeyfields open-space + Video
Today on the open-space there was a grass fire and the fire brigade had to be called to put out the flames. A couple of residents tried to tackle the fire with extinguishers but with the slight gust of wind it was not possible to contain the flames. It is believed the fire was not an accident and may have been caused deliberately. I think that this matter should be addressed at the meeting on Monday night in a view to settle the ongoing debate to who is responsible for the maintenance and up keep of the open-space. If money has been set aside for grass cutting it should be done at regular intervals and not left until the grass is three feet tall and then cut and left to dry out in the hot weather as has been proven this causes an immediate threat of fire.

Hiya Bankeyfields: I had a TXT of Cllr Megan Ryan yesterday to say she'd chased the relevant department up over the left grass and they will come and remove it shortly.
Apparently they never take cut grass straight away, and that's why it's been left. If that's the case, I they'll be removing last years as well then.
More follows on the open space situation, after Monday's Residents Association Meeting, I'm just collating the minutes.
